Willis scored a game-high 20 points, 17 coming in the second half, to earn MVP honors in the girls game. The winners of each pool advance to the quarterfinals. The tournament has a new format this season, with the 24 invited teams separated into eight pools of three. All games will be played at Peralta Canyon Park in Anaheim. The prestigious tournament gets underway Wednesday afternoon and closes with the final Saturday night. The Michelle Carew Classic once again features many of the top softball teams in the state, including Inland powers Norco, Great Oak, Santiago and Grand Terrace.
